Testimonials from Professionals
"Homestart has been an invaluable support service to several families on my caseload.
As a professional the service has been easy to access, responsive and an essential part in planning a child's support and or interventions.
Families have reported back they have attended several of group sessions which they have enjoyed, found support and companionship from the groups and the workers who facilitate the groups.
From 1:1 support families have found it timely, they feel Homestart listens to their views on the support the family feel they need and many 'look forward' to the visit from their Homestart befriender".

"Homestart within Helensburgh has been beneficial to the families in the area, particularly in the absence of other vital support services which have been limited and restricted. These include mental health and women's aid supports. Homestart has helped families and parents who require additional support in the local area and has allowed them to integrate into the local community.
1-1 support and group support are much needed in the area. As our area includes Helensburgh and Lomond, continued support and expansion of support to our harder to reach Lochside families would benefit them greatly, as the need in these areas is currently unable to be met".

"The Naval Children’s Charity has been working closely with Home-Start Lomond since 2023. During this time, we have referred many of our beneficiary families to Home-Start Lomond for support and, equally, have had referrals directly from them.
The support provided is vital. They have bridged a gap, providing services lacking within the area, and allowed Naval Families the opportunity to integrate into their new community and meet other like-minded people, including those not from a military background.
The team at Home-Start Lomond combines emotional support with practical help, such as connecting families to partner agencies, services, and group work, but most importantly, improving families' daily routines. It is a service very needed within the Helensburgh and Lomond area, and the Naval Children’s Charity is proud to be a partner. At NCC we pride ourselves in working in partnership with our support agencies across the UK. Only recently was Home-Start Lomond invited along to our 200 Bicentenary celebrations, highlighting the good practice of community work in the Helensburgh and Lomond Area.
As the Outreach Caseworker in Scotland for NCC, I have heard and seen firsthand the excellent work that the team does, and this must continue to help improve the lives of vulnerable families, especially those of service families, who find themselves coping often on their own for long periods of time. It gives them a place to go, relax, and know that support is out there."
